If someone gives out the advice below, feel free to send him to bass lessons, because he’s not a very good singer.

After all, these ways of adding hoarseness will only make your health worse:

  • Start smoking or increase the nicotine dose;
  • drinking hard alcoholic beverages;
  • catching a cold, so that your vocal cords are always inflamed; yelling or talking at high tones, so that you can be heard even by those who are far away;
  • crying out loud and speaking only in whispers to strain your vocal cords;
  • Strive to dehydrate your body by drinking small amounts of fluids;
  • Emotions, for example, singing loudly at the top of your voice will make your voice hoarse, unhealthy though it may be;
  • irritate the throat, for example, with spicy food;
  • to see a surgeon.

As you understand, it is impossible to follow such rules in any case.

Exercises for creating a hoarse voice

To learn to sing with hoarseness, it is best to go to a vocal studio to professional teachers, thanks to the efforts of which your voice will first become lower, and then get the desired timbre and hue. But most importantly, the right vocal lessons will give your voice a hoarse tone without harming your health. Just train your ligaments and do the following exercises:

  • Get your voice to come from your chest, not your throat, when pronouncing the extended “and.”
  • Start learning breathing techniques that strain the diaphragm and stomach to give your voice strength;
  • Read any texts aloud with different pitches to strengthen the ligaments and change the range of your voice;
  • Strengthen your neck muscles by moving your head in a circular motion; keep your back straight to keep your diaphragm relaxed and your lungs working as productively as possible;
  • Sing as often as possible on low notes; try your hand at growling or screaming.
